‘Great asset’ – Sunderland man hailed after ‘absolutely brilliant’ start to the season

Sunderland’s Alan Browne has described Regis Le Bris’ influence on the club as ‘brilliant’ so far.

Sunderland turned to the Frenchman over the summer and he has adapted well to life in the championship.

The Black Cats are top of the table during the current international break.

Browne has been impressed with his manager and has said, as per a report by the ChronicleLive: “I think he’s absolutely brilliant. It’s not just because we’re winning, even when we are winning, he’s looking at what we can improve on. He’s not getting up our highlights and saying we’re unbelievable. Let’s do that every week.

“It’s not the case, you can’t do that every week. He looks at what we’ve done wrong, how we can fix it and each game is different. We approach each game differently; not every game is the same and there’s different ways to beat teams. I think he’s really good at figuring that out from what we’ve seen so far.

“Long may that continue. He’s a real calm presence, he doesn’t get carried away with anything. Whether we’re winning or we’re losing, he’s very intelligent, and I think he’s a great asset to the club. He’s brilliant, not just for the young boys but myself to learn form.”

Sunderland boss praised

Le Bris arrived at Sunderland as a bit of an unknown quantity back in June.

He penned a three-year deal with the North East outfit and has won six out of his first 10 league fixtures.

The Frenchman had a spell at FC Lorient before moving to the Black Cats and won 30.26% of games.

Sunderland swooped to land Browne in July to boost their options in midfield. They also acquired the Irishman to inject some experience into their youthful ranks.

He has played six times so far for his new team and has settled in well.

Prior to joining them, the Cork-born man spent 10 years at fellow second tier side Preston North End and went on to play 414 games for the Lilywhites, chipping in with 46 goals.

What now?

Sunderland drew 2-2 at home to Leeds United in their last outing.

They are back in action on Sunday, 20th October, with an away trip to the MKM Stadium to face Hull City.
