How Sunderland will line-up for their game against Millwall at the Den

Sunderland return to action when they take on Millwall in the Championship on Saturday.

Here are all the details you need to know about the game…

WHERE IS THE GAME-TAKING PLACE?

Having signed off ahead of the international break with a 2-2 draw at home to Coventry City, Sunderland head out on the road this weekend when they head to the Den to take on Millwall.

The Black Cats have not claimed an away victory at Millwall since 1995, with their last three trips to the Den all having resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Last season’s game in south London saw Kevin Nisbet open the scoring for Millwall towards the end of the first half, before Jack Clarke levelled from the penalty spot with 12 minutes remaining.

WHAT TIME IS KICKOFF?

Saturday’s game is a traditional 3 p.m. kickoff.

ARE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE?

No, Sunderland have sold all their tickets for the away section at the Den for Saturday’s game.

The Black Cats will be roared on by a contingent of more than 3,000 travelling supporters as they look to extend their eight-game unbeaten run.

IS THE GAME BEING TELEVISED OR STREAMED LIVE?

No, Saturday’s game has not been selected for live television broadcast. There is, however, a Saturday evening EFL highlights program on both ITV and ITV4.

As the game falls in the 3pm blackout slot, there will be no domestic streaming available.

Radio commentary for the match will be available on BBC Radio Newcastle, and The Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson will be at the Den providing a live blog, report, ratings, reaction, and analysis on The Northern Echo website.

WHAT IS SUNDERLAND’S LIKELY LINEUP?

Sunderland face a number of suspension and injury issues ahead of their weekend trip to south London.

Trai Hume, Jobe Bellingham, and Patrick Roberts are all unavailable because of suspension, while Alan Browne and Romaine Mundle face around two months on the sidelines after picking up injuries in the draw with Coventry that preceded the international break.

Adil Aouchiche and Abdoullah Ba have been restored to the squad, and the former could make his first start of the season in midfield.

Luke O’Nien is expected to move to right-back to replace Hume, which would mean Dan Ballard and Chris Mepham playing alongside each other at centre-half. Aji Alese is back in the squad, but the defender is an unlikely starter given the length of his injury layoff.

Anthony Patterson will return in goal though, with the first-choice shotstopper set to replace Simon Moore after completing his own recovery from injury.

Sunderland (probable, 4-3-3): Patterson; O’Nien, Mepham, Ballard, Cirkin; Rigg, Neil, Aouchiche; Connolly, Isidor, Watson.

HOW ARE MILLWALL SHAPING UP?

Millwall have enjoyed a strong start to the season, and currently sit in eighth position in the Championship table, just two points outside the play-off places.

Neil Harris’ side were in particularly good form just before the start of the international break, with the 1-1 draw at Stoke that preceded the two-week hiatus extending their unbeaten run to seven matches.

Former Sunderland skipper George Honeyman could return to the Millwall squad this weekend after an injury absence, with Joe Bryan and George Saville also in contention after stepping up their respective recoveries from injury during the international break.

However, Billy Mitchell and Adam Mayor remain long-term injury absentees, while Tom Bradshaw is an injury doubt.

Millwall (probable, 4-2-3-1): Jensen; Leonard, Cooper, Tanganga, Bryan; Norre, Saville; Azeez, Honeyman, Esse; Coburn.
