New research has revealed the most rewarding Premier League teams, with Ipswich Town coming out on top.
The study by the football score site Flashscore analysed yearly salary data for all current Premier League teams in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, respectively, to see which teams saw the biggest salary increases between these two seasons.
It found that Ipswich Town received the biggest salary boost in the Premier League compared to last year. In the 2023-24 season, average weekly salaries sat at £8,676, and average annual salaries sat at £451,152. In the 2024-25 season, this has increased to £23,630 for weekly salaries on average and an increase to £1,228,741 for annual salaries, a whopping 172.36% increase following the team’s promotion. Despite this growth, the team ranks lowest by annual salary in the league behind Brentford.
Nottingham Forest takes second on the list. The team’s average weekly salary increased from £35,452 in the 2023-24 season to £45,222 in the 2024-25 season, and the average annual salary increased from £1,843,500 in 2023-24 to £2,351,556 in 2024-25. This is an increase of 27.56%.
Taking third on the list is Bournemouth. In 2023-24, the team’s average weekly salary sat at £34,453, which increased to £43,833 in 2024-25. Additionally, the team’s average annual salary went from £1,791,563 in 2023-24 to £2,279,333 in 2024-25, an increase of 27.23%.
Chelsea takes fourth on the list, with the average annual salary increasing by 19.15%. In 2023-24, the team’s average annual salary sat at £4,490,571, and in 2024-25, this increased to £5,350,313. Average weekly salaries increased from £86,357 in 2023-24 to £102,891 in 2024-25.
Rounding out the top five is Fulham. In 2023-24, the team’s average annual salary sat at £2,518,148, and in 2024-25, this increased to £2,974,174, an increase of 18.11%. The team’s average weekly salary went from £48,426 in 2023-24 to £57,196 in 2024-25.
