Talk of where recently released New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones might land is already beginning to heat up.
The first cab off the rank? The Cleveland Browns, at least according to multiple reports.
After the Giants parted ways with their six-year pro on Friday, it didn’t take long for Browns owners and executives to get in contact with Jones’ agents Brian Murphy and Camron Hahn to float the idea of a potential move to Cleveland.
My sources are saying that Andrew Berry has already been in contact with Daniel Jones and his agent on potentially bringing him to Cleveland. They like his upside and potential in a Stefanski offense.

Jones, who was once one of the highest-paid quarterbacks only 12 months ago when he landed a four-year, $160 million contract extension, fell out of favor in New York behind a shoddy offensive line and a front office that never truly believed in his ability.
As for what’s next, Yahoo Sports reports NFL executives think the Browns could be interested in Jones if they can beat the likes of the Vikings and Jets to the punch.
On the back of Thursday’s upset win over the Steelers, the news might also suggest the Browns aren’t entirely sold on Jameis Winston, who signed a one-year deal in March to fill in as Deshaun Watson’s replacement at the time.
To his credit, Winston has performed admirably since Watson was ruled out with an Achilles tear several weeks ago, inspiring the team on and off the field and also leading a 44-yard, game-winning drive to knock off the Steelers in the snow.

Whether Jones would be a drastic upgrade over Winston is up for debate. His skill set is seemingly limited, but it goes without saying that on the back of Saquon Barkley’s success since moving to Philadelphia, there is room for optimism in a new environment.
Jones’ best season came in 2022, when he threw only five interceptions across 16 starts, good for a 1.1% interception rate—the lowest in the league.
As mentioned, the offensive line in New York is partly to blame for his recent struggles post-ACL surgery, and with Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy on track for another 900-yard season, there are some enticing selling points for Jones to consider in Cleveland.
